It’s a very interesting history of an iconic and very excellent pistol. Any FFL that understands a CA 03 can buy a C&R gun cash and carry while out of state, will know that Manhurin or Manuruin doesn't matter when it comes down to a French made PP. 80% of FFLs out of state who do know C&R guns, still will not sell to a 03FFL visiting from CA. In my experience, you've got bigger problems trying to buy in person while out of state because you are from CA, than you do with a FFL who doesn't know his C&R guns. One could argue that if a out of state FFL does not recognize what a C&R is, he probably isn't going to recognize CA laws that apply to C&R holders either. Out of state purchases are always YMMV even if the gun is 100 years old, you are from CA after all. It will be roster exempt and can be released same day to 03+COE. The fact that the original FFL calls it not C&R does not change what it is, and your CA transfer FFL can process it as C&R if that is what it is. Read what I posted - if your transfer FFL agrees it is C&R it does not matter what the original seller calls it. It also matters for FTF out of state transactions, which do not require an 01FFL ![]() It does matter if you consider the 01FFL has to process it as a C&R transfer to avoid the 10 day wait. ![]()
